Our exquisite Federal Demilune Hall Table features a neoclassical theme of three superlative garlands of graduated bellflower swags, tied with bowknots, inlaid into a continuous ribbon mahogany apron. Pendant bellflowers descend from the bowknots onto curly satinwood panels, inlaid into tapered therm legs, bordered with black-white string, and scratch-carved corners. The bellflowers display the technique of sand-shading, where the edges of two overlapping petals are scorched in hot sand to create visual depth. The swirl-mahogany top is inlaid with a necklace of holly leaves and berries around its perimeter. Curly satinwood with a black-white border is inlaid into the top edge and lower apron to emphasize the curved form. The total number of individual inlaid elements is about 475. The curved apron behind the veneer is constructed of staggered rows of horizontally-laid wood bricks. The finish is hand-varnished to a resplendent patina. Our table is a tribute to a masterwork by John Seymour of Boston, circa 1794, documented by scholar Robert Mussey, and sold at auction in 1998 for $540,000!

Hand varnished and rubbed to a satin patina. Built to last using mortise & tenon joinery, an Adriance heirloom will be treasured for generations.
